Short Sword for Street SurvivalIn today's troubled world it is unrealistic as well as dangerous to assume there is any place that is completely safe and secure from acts of violence. That being the case, we must be as astute in our methods of personal protection as we are in our choice of where we reside. The sign of the times dictate that for the sake of survival we must be prepared to meet violence on its own terms. This simply means the more knowledge and experience we have in personal protection, the greater our chances of survival. Among the many tools we have at our disposal for street survival, the most common are firearms (guns) and bladed instruments. There are a great number of people who carry one or the other and in some cases both. In most cases bladed weapons are more readily accessible than guns and allows a higher level of control in the degree of damage incurred. One of the most fascinating of all the bladed weapons is the Wakasashi or the Samurai Short Sword. For the ancient Samurai, the short sword had two important functions; engaging the enemy at close range and (when necessary) committing Seppuku (a ritualistic form of suicide). The short sword was also a favorite tool of the shadow warrior or the infamous Ninja warrior. In reality, the Ninja favored a sword with a short blade for easy concealment, and not the beautiful long swords depicted in Ninja movies. Now you can learn what the Ninjas knew. Grandmaster Henry Cook will share his knowledge and experience from his days of training in a real Ninja camp. In the workshop, Grandmaster Cook will cover the introduction and use of the short sword for street survival. The workshop will also cover traditional Samurai as well as Ninja techniques and methods. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will receive a Certificate and a beautiful short sword of their own. These swords are the real thing and are razor sharp! |

Key-Jitsu - Self Defense for Women and Children Only

Effective Key-jitsu is a system that combines old ideas with a new method of delivery. The result is a simple and effective means of fending off an assailant while sounding an alarm. The last thing a criminal or assailant wants is public attention. This is one of the reasons they use the element of surprise as their main tool. Key-jitsu provides a whistle and a single key conveniently located on a chain which is worn around the neck. The key, whistle and chain are called a rig. Throughout the years, women’s self defense courses have undergone several stages of development in terminology and techniques. In earlier stages of development, women were taught to use the entire ring of keys to strike and gouge. The problem with this method was that the keys would move out of alignment or bunch up. This often caused injury to the victim’s hand. The Key-jitsu solution is to use one key. The one key, which is oversized, is much more stable and maneuverable. This one key method also allows for fast and effective strikes to specific target areas. The most unique aspect of this system is that throughout an encounter, the intended victim is constantly blowing the whistle to attract attention. To a criminal or assailant, attention can only create witnesses, and having witnesses means incarceration. Parents will feel a little more at east when they know their elementary and middle school aged daughters have been trained to defend themselves and are equipped with the Key-jitsu rig. The Key-jitsu system is ideal for young women who may often find themselves on campus alone. Nothing can compare to the confidence they will experience when walking from dorm to class or the parking lot with their knowledge of Key-jitsu. The Key-jitsu methods are simple and easy to learn. As a matter of fact, these methods only require a one hour block of instruction. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of proficiency and a complete Key-jitsu rig. Women can also receive instruction during their lunch break or between classes for convenience. There are special discount rates for corporations, family members, and civil or church groups.
